RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Salameh Ibrahim Zanayed has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Salameh Ibrahim Zanayed was a leader of the Arab community in Chicago and the loving husband for 55 years of Nadia; and
WHEREAS, Salameh Ibrahim Zanayed was the much-adored father of Rana, Ronnie, Roala and Rita and the grandfather of nine to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Salameh Ibrahim Zanayed was the dear brother of Sami, Fadlallah and Zarifeh; and
WHEREAS, A native of Palestine, Salameh Ibrahim Zanayed came to Chicago in 1961 and married his wife the following year; and
WHEREAS, Salameh Ibrahim Zanayed was a longtime member of St. George Orthodox Church and the President of the American Federation of Ramallah Palestine; and
WHEREAS, Under Mayor Richard M. Daley, Salameh Ibrahim Zanayed served as Executive Director of Human Relations for Arab Affairs in the City of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, An author and broadcaster, Salameh Ibrahim Zanayed was one of two Ramallah representatives to the Palestinian National Council; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Salameh Ibrahim Zanayed serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Salameh Ibrahim Zanayed was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Salameh Ibrahim Zanayed imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-seventh day of June, 2018, do hereby commemorate Salameh Ibrahim Zanayed for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Salameh Ibrahim Zanayed.
