RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Albert M. "Al" Jourdan Jr. has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 82; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Albert M. "Al" Jourdan Jr. was an icon of McHenry County politics and the loving husband for 62 years of Carolyn, nee Kollman; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Albert M. "Al" Jourdan Jr. was the much-adored father of Albert III and Debra, the grandfather of seven and the great-grandfather of seven to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Albert M. "Al" Jourdan Jr. worked until 1970 as the General Manager of Jourdan Packing House, a fourth-generation family-owned sausage making packing house on the south side of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Albert M. "Al" Jourdan Jr. was a director of the Regional Transportation Authority and served multiple terms as McHenry County Auditor; and
WHEREAS, A widely respected political leader, the Honorable Albert M. "Al" Jourdan Jr. served as Chairman of the McHenry County Republican Party from 1968 to 1998 and as Illinois GOP Chairman from 1988 to 1993; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Albert M. "Al" Jourdan Jr. serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Albert M. "Al" Jourdan Jr. to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Albert M. "Al" Jourdan Jr. imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-ninth day of March, 2017, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Albert M. "Al" Jourdan Jr. for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
