RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel Pascale, a long-serving and widely admired member of the legal community, will officially retire as Counsel to the Chairman of the Chicago City Council Committee on Finance on June 1, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel Pascale is a former Judge and Chicago Law Department attorney who joined the Committee in 2005; and
WHEREAS, The son of Italian and French immigrants, the Honorable Daniel Pascale was raised in Racine, Wisconsin where his father was a supervisor with the local parks system; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel Pascale graduated with honors from Harvard College and first came to Chicago to attend the University of Chicago Law School; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel Pascale began his legal career when he joined the City of Chicago's Corporation Counsel's Office in 1966; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel Pascale rose through the ranks of the Law Department to become head of Appeals and First Deputy Corporation Counsel; and
WHEREAS, After leaving the Corporation Counsel's Office in 1984, the Honorable Daniel Pascale worked in private practice at Rudnick & Wolfe where he was a Partner from 1986 to 1990; and
WHEREAS, Remarkably, much of the Honorable Daniel Pascale's professional life was spent working within a one block radius of City Hall; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel Pascale served from 1990 to 1994 and from 1996 to 1998 as a Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County where he presided over bench and jury trials involving torts and contract interpretation, domestic relations, child custody and child abuse cases; and
WHEREAS, From 1995 to 1996 the Honorable Daniel Pascale managed the Illinois state court system as the Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts; and
WHEREAS, Under the direction of the Chief Justice, the Honorable Daniel Pascale conducted a major revision of the Supreme Court rules concerning civil discovery; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel Pascale worked from 1999 to 2002 as Senior Counsel for Dean Foods Company after which he temporarily retired before joining the Committee on Finance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel Pascale was recognized for fifty years of service by the Illinois State Bar Association that conferred upon him the title of "Distinguished Counsellor" in 2016; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Daniel Pascale serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel Pascale is the loving husband of Mary McDonald Pascale and the proud father of Alex and looks forward to spending quality and time with them and traveling; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-third day of May, 2018, do hereby express our sincere gratitude to the Honorable Daniel Pascale for his dedicated service to the people of the City of Chicago, Cook County and the State of Illinois during his long and illustrious career of public service; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, T^iat a suitable copy pf this resolution be presented to the Honorable Damdi Pascale. /
