RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wilbur E. Crooks has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and.
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wilbur E. Crooks was a retired Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County who dedicated his entire professional life to public service; and
 
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, the Honorable Wilbur E. Crooks was raised on the West Side in the Robert Brooks Housing Project and attended public schools; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wilbur E. Crooks began his career working for the United States Postal Service from 1960 to 1965 as a mail carrier; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wilbur E. Crooks joined the Chicago Police Department where he served from 1965 to 1978 and rose to become a Detective; and
 
WHEREAS, A founding member of the Afro-American Patrolman's League, the Honorable Wilbur E. Crooks graduated from Loop College and DePaul University College of Law; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wilbur E. Crooks went on to become an Assistant Cook County State's Attorney and in 1996 was elected to the bench; and
 
WHEREAS, Following nearly a decade of judicial service, the Honorable Wilbur E. Crooks retired in 2005; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wilbur E. Crooks was a Treasurer and Trustee of Calvary Baptist Church; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Wilbur E. Crooks serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Wilbur E. Crooks to his family members, friends and all who
 
 
knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Wilbur E. Crooks was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Wilbur E. Crooks imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of April, 2015, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Wilbur E. Crooks for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy ofjhis resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Wilbur E. Crabks.
