CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO POLICE OFFICER DONALD HARGRAVES ON RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT

 

 

WHEREAS, Police Officer Donald Hargraves, Star # 4887, is congratulated in honor of his retirement from the Chicago Police Department following twenty-five years of dedicated public service and as a valued member ofthe 6th District; and

WHEREAS, The City of Chicago has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Derrick Curtis, Alderman of the 18th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Officer Hargraves has devoted his work over these past many years to fulfill on the motto of the Chicago Police Department - "We Serve and Protect"; and

WHEREAS, Officer Hargraves dedication and commitment to his duty as a public servant has contributed to ensuring that the City of Chicago is a safe, healthy and vibrant place for all who live and visit here; and

WHEREAS, Officer Hargraves upheld the finest traditions ofthe law enforcement community throughout his tenure earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and the people he served; and

WHEREAS, Officer Hargraves history of service exacts substantial physical and emotional toll not only on the officers like himself, who must daily cope with the stress and danger of being life's arbitrator for countless citizens, but also on family members; and

WHEREAS, That we, as leaders of this great City of Chicago, are deeply cognizant of the great debt owed our public servants, and extend our sincerest gratitude for the long and prolific career of Officer Hargraves; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 12th day of December, 2018, do hereby commend Officer Donald Hargraves for his faithful duty and express our most heartfelt wishes for a pleasant retirement; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Officer Hargraves as a sign of our honor and respect.
