RESOLUTION

 

 

 

WHEREAS, Robert "Bob" William Garvin has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 88; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Elroy, Wisconsin, Robert "Bob" William Garvin was the loving husband for 54 years of JoAnn Mary, nee Finucan; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Bob" William Garvin was the much-adored father of Mary, John, Robert, Julie, and Kathleen "Twink" and the grandfather of twelve to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Bob" William Garvin was preceded in death by his two sisters, Mary and Kathryn; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Bob" William Garvin graduated from Elroy High School in 1945 and served his country in the United States Army Air Force; and

WHEREAS, Upon his honorable discharge, Robert "Bob" William Garvin returned to Elroy where he worked at his father's Ford dealership which he later owned; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Bob" William Garvin also operated Garvin's Mobil service station for 35 years; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Bob" William Garvin later worked as a full-time letter carrier for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 2006; and

WHEREAS, For many years, Robert "Bob" William Garvin maintained a farm in the Town of Plymouth in Juneau County; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Robert "Bob" William Garvin serve as an example to all; and

 

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Robert "Bob" William Garvin to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Bob" William Garvin was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Robert "Bob" William Garvin imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of January, 2016, do hereby commemorate Robert "Bob" William Garvin for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert "Bob" William Garvin.
