MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR BRUNO CASSETTARI

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of Bruno Cassettari on October 15, 2018 at the age of 90; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Bruno was the beloved husband of the late Anne M. Cassettari, nee Buckman; loving father of Jennifer Anne Critchlow; cherished uncle of Markus R. and Clifford A. Collins and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Bruno leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love and

WHEREAS, Bruno enlisted in the Air National Guard which led to deployment to O'Hare Air Reserves Field right here in Illinois. There he employed his skills as a flight engineer and aircraft mechanic, specifically working on B-26 bombers. He serviced stateside during the Korean Ward, not only at O'Hare, but also at Langley Air Force in Virginia and Shaw Field in South Carolina. Sergeant Cassettari was honorably discharged in 1952, but remained a patriot, ever faithful to his community and his country; and

WHEREAS, Bruno was an active and vital member in his community. He spent 14 years on the board of the Sauganash Park Community Association, three of those years as president and past Commander of the Gladstone American Legion Post #777; and

WHEREAS, Bruno touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity and vivacious spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this thirty-first day of October, 2018, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Bruno Cassettari; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution are presented to the family of Bruno Cassettari as a sign of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
