RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Joseph "Beau" Biden has gone to his eternal reward at the age of 46; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Joseph "Beau" Biden was the loving and devoted husband of Hallie; and

 

WHEREAS, Joseph "Beau" Biden was the much-adored father of Natalie and Hunter to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, The eldest of three children of Vice President Joe Biden, Joseph "Beau" Biden was born in Wilmington, Delaware and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and Syracuse University Law School; and

 

WHEREAS, Joseph "Beau" Biden was a prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney's Office and then a partner in a private law firm before serving two terms as Attorney General of the State of Delaware; and

 

WHEREAS, Joseph "Beau" Biden was a member of the Delaware National Guard and was deployed to Iraq for a year of active duty; and

 

WHEREAS, Joseph "Beau" Biden was a rising figure in Democratic politics and planned to run for Governor of the State of Delaware when he was diagnosed with and succumbed to brain cancer; and

 

WHEREAS, The goodness, sacrifice and dedication of Joseph "Beau" Biden serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Joseph "Beau" Biden to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

 

WHEREAS, Joseph "Beau" Biden was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Joseph "Beau" Biden imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this seventeenth day of June, 2015, do hereby commemorate Joseph "Beau" Biden for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joseph "Beau" Biden.
