RESOLUTION
 
 
 
WHEREAS, Judy Tucker has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of sixty-nine; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of the Chatham neighborhood, Judy Tucker was a highly accomplished veteran of public service and the devoted wife of Elishious; and
 
WHEREAS, Judy Tucker was the much-adored mother of Harriet Pitts, William Pitts, Aron Pitts, Michael Pitts and Dottie Hall, the grandmother of eighteen and the great-grandmother of seven; and
 
WHEREAS, A woman of dignity, grace and charm, Judy Tucker was the dear sister of Lydia Christian and Cedric Ellis; and
 
WHEREAS, Judy Tucker enjoyed a highly successful career on the local and federal levels of government during which she earned a reputation as a no-nonsense problem-solver; and
Services   to Congressman
 
WHEREAS, Judy Tucker was the longtime  Director of Constituent
Bobby  L.   Rush   and   a  former  aide to
Congressman Ralph Metcalfe, Sr; and
 
WHEREAS, As Director of Constituent Services for Congressman Rush, Judy Tucker assisted the community with problems involving public utilities, housing, social security and taxes; and
 
WHEREAS, Judy Tucker was a welcoming individual who always demonstrated kindness to those she met and made her career a personal mission of service; and
 
WHEREAS, Judy Tucker additionally worked on the staffs of Alderman Tyrone Kenner, Cook County Commissioner Jerry Butler and the Chicago Commission on Human Relations; and
 
WHEREAS, In her spare time, Judy Tucker grew vegetables in her garden which she generously shared with others; and
 
WHEREAS, Judy Tucker faithfully attended Miracle House of Prayer Church in Chicago where she was an usher; and
 
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Judy Tucker serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Judy Tucker imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of February, 2013, do hereby commemorate Judy Tucker for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Judy Tucker.
