MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Jose "Lupe" Ramirez, 17th District Commander of the Chicago Police Department, on October 27, 2015, at the age of fifty; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, This dedicated son of the late Guadalupe Ramirez and the late Beverly Webster was born on December 6, 1964. He was the beloved husband of Jennifer Przybylo; loving brother of Roseanna (George) Orona, Daniel (Denise) Webster, Grant Webster, Brian (Angelita) Webster, Brian (Angelita) Webster, Maryln (Dennis) Cullen and Maria (George) Ramirez-Diaz; fond uncle and great uncle of many nieces and nephews; and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Lupe leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, An active and vital memenger of his community, Commander Ramirez was the proud recipient of the William Powers Leadership Award during his service for the Chicago Police Department with twenty-nine years of dedicated service; and
WHEREAS, He enjoyed life by living every day to the fullest, sharing hugs, kindness and laughter. His smile and sense of humor will be missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to call him a friend. Lupe touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity and spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him, now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and member of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this eighteenth day of November, 2015, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Jose "Lupe" Ramirez, Commander with the Chicago Police Department, and express to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jose "Lupe" Ramirez, Commander of the Chicago Police Department as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
