RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Kathleen Pucalik has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of forty-seven; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Hammond, Indiana, the Honorable Kathleen Pucalik was the beloved daughter of Kay and the late Joseph; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Kathleen Pucalik was the loving sister of Michael and Mark and the late Shirley and the much-adored aunt of four; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Kathleen Pucalik was unfailingly dedicated to her community, serving as a member of the Hammond City Council for twelve years and as President of the Council during her last two terms; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Kathleen Pucalik attended the Hammond public schools and was a certified teacher for the School City of Hammond; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Kathleen Pucalik attended Purdue University in Calumet, and went on to work in the school's communication office for nearly twenty years; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Kathleen Pucalik was a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts, and an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary #369; and
WHEREAS, Friends and colleagues will remember the Honorable Kathleen Pucalik as a woman for whom community service was a duty and a passion; and
WHEREAS, A woman of dignity, grace and charm, the Honorable Kathleen Pucalik will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends, and neighbors; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, the Honorable Kathleen Pucalik imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-eighth day of July, 2011, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Kathleen Pucalik for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Kathleen Pucalik.
