RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Leslie Koczur has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 60; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Hinsdale, Leslie Koczur was a retired lawyer for ComEd where she was a policy expert who played an influential role in deregulating electric rates in Illinois during the 1990s; and
WHEREAS, Raised in Glenview, Leslie Koczur graduated from St. Louise de Marillac High School in Northfield and John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio; and
WHEREAS, Leslie Koczur earned her law degree from John Marshall Law School in Chicago and worked for the Illinois Attorney General's Office before joining ComEd; and
WHEREAS, Known for her professionalism, talent and charisma, Leslie Koczur possessed a special gift for overcoming barriers by engaging others to help solve major policy issues; and
WHEREAS, Leslie Koczur's work not only helped to lower utility rates in Illinois, but also improved the reliability of ComEd's grid system; and
WHEREAS, Following a long and distinguished career, Leslie Koczur retired from ComEd in 2014 as Director of Regulatory Projects; and
WHEREAS, Leslie Koczur lived in Oak Park for many years before moving to Hinsdale and in her leisure time enjoyed traveling and outdoor activities; and
WHEREAS, Leslie Koczur served as a member of the board of the Illinois Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Leslie Koczur serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Leslie Koczur to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Leslie Koczur was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Leslie Koczur imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of September 2015, do hereby commemorate Leslie Koczur for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
