RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, William J. "Bill" Weick has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 85; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Chicago Ridge, William J. "Bill" Weick was the loving husband for 45 years of Rosellen, nee Nugent; and

WHEREAS, William J. "Bill" Weick was the much-adored father of Bill, Betty Lou, Kathleen, Knute, Jennifer Rose and Jeanne, the grandfather of ten and the great-grandfather of one to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, William J. "Bill" Weick was a legendary wrestling coach who worked during his career at Tilden Tech, Mount Carmel and Brother Rice high schools; and

WHEREAS, In 2015 Brother Rice High School dedicated its wrestling room in honor of William J. "Bill" Weick during a ceremony attended by former United States Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld; and

WHEREAS, William J. "Bill" Weick also coached many United States teams in international competitions; and

WHEREAS, William J. "Bill" Weick was a member of the U.S. Olympic coaching staff and led the freestyle squad in 1972, 1980, 1984 and 1988; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of William J. "Bill" Weick serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared William J. "Bill" Weick to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, William J. "Bill" Weick imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixth day of September, 2017, do hereby commemorate William J. "Bill" Weick for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William J. "Bill" Weick.
