RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Daniel Moriarty has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Daniel Moriarty was the loving husband for 45 years of Kaye, nee Weaver; and

 

WHEREAS, Daniel Moriarty was the much-adored father of Kara, Erin and Bridget and the grandfather of six to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, Daniel Moriarty was the dear brother of the Reverend Barry, CM, Sister Rita, C.S.J., Sharon, Terry, Mary Beth and the late Carol; and

 

WHEREAS, Daniel Moriarty came from a long line of Chicagoans and was the son of the late Daniel and Therese, the owners of Moriarty's Shamrock Brand Corned Beef; and

 

WHEREAS, Daniel Moriarty devoted his career to public service and served with honor and distinction for 35 years as a member of the Chicago Fire Department; and

 

WHEREAS, Daniel Moriarty retired in 2004 as the director of the shops responsible for the repair and maintenance of fire trucks and equipment; and

 

WHEREAS, In his retirement, Daniel Moriarty moved to his beloved Grand Beach, Michigan; and

 

WHEREAS, A man who was extremely proud of his Irish heritage, Daniel Moriarty was a longtime and valued member of the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago; and

 

WHEREAS, Daniel Moriarty will be remembered for his beautiful tenor voice which brought to life songs such as "Danny Boy"; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Daniel Moriarty to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Daniel Moriarty serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Daniel Moriarty imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixteenth day of November, 2016, do hereby commemorate Daniel Moriarty for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Daniel Moriarty.
