RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Frederick "Fritz" Kaegi officially took the oath of office as the newly inaugurated Cook County Assessor on December 3, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A progressive Democrat, Frederick "Fritz" Kaegi has pledged to bring fairness, transparency and professionalism to the Assessor's Office; and
WHEREAS, Frederick "Fritz" Kaegi brings to the Assessor's Office a wealth of experience and knowledge; and
WHEREAS, Frederick "Fritz" Kaegi has spent his career valuing assets as a financial manager at Columbia Wanger Asset Management; and
WHEREAS, In 13 years at Columbia Wanger, Frederick "Fritz" Kaegi served as a financial steward, helped average families save for retirement and focused on small global companies; and
WHEREAS, In addition to being a Chartered Financial Analyst, Frederick "Fritz" Kaegi received the Certified Illinois Assessment Officer (CIAO) designation to deepen his understanding of the property tax assessment system; and
WHEREAS, Frederick "Fritz" Kaegi was born and raised in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago where his parents have lived for 40 years; and
WHEREAS, Frederick "Fritz" Kaegi attended Kenwood High School, completed his undergraduate studies at Haverford College and earned his MBA from Stanford University; and
WHEREAS, Along with his wife and three children, Frederick "Fritz" Kaegi lives in Oak Park where he is a member of First United Methodist Church of Oak Park, and volunteers as an assistant softball coach; and
WHEREAS, The hard work and dedication of Frederick "Fritz" Kaegi serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twelfth day of December, 2018, do hereby congratulate Frederick "Fritz" Kaegi on being sworn into office as Cook County Assessor and do hereby express our best wishes for his continued success and achievement; and
