RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Stanley Zydlo has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 81; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, A visionary and pioneering leader in the medical profession, Dr. Stanley Zydlo was considered the "father of paramedic services" in the northwest suburbs; and

 

WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Dr. Stanley Zydlo was the son of the Honorable Stanley Zydlo, Sr., who served for 15 years as the Alderman of the 26th ward; and

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Stanley Zydlo graduated from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri and Loyola University Medical School in Chicago; and

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Stanley Zydlo went on to serve as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force's Strategic Air Command during the Cuban Missile Crisis; and

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Stanley Zydlo worked for 25 years as Director of the Emergency Department and EMS system at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights; and

 

WHEREAS, During the 1970s, Dr. Stanley Zydlo played an instrumental role in creating the state's first multi-community system of specially-trained firefighters, paramedics and emergency medical technicians that today has 25 member agencies and is credited with saving countless lives; and

 

WHEREAS, In recognition of his groundbreaking leadership and contributions to the medical field, the suburb of Palatine named a fire station in honor of Dr. Stanley Zydlo in 1997; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Stanley Zydlo serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Dr. Stanley Zydlo to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

 

WHEREAS, Dr. Stanley Zydlo was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

WHEREAS, To his loving wife, Joyce, his children, Mark, Matt, Brad, Sheri and Kate, and his grandchildren, Dr. Stanley Zydlo imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-ninth day of July, 2015, do hereby commemorate Dr. Stanley Zydlo for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Stanley Zydlo. /
