RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Eddie Lee McCann, Sr., has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 91; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Eddie Lee McCann, Sr., was the loving husband for 31 years of Minnie; and

 

WHEREAS, Eddie Lee McCann, Sr., was the much-adored father of four children, the grandfather of eleven, the great-grandfather of 34 and the great-great-grandfather of five to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, Eddie Lee McCann, Sr., served his country during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star; and

 

WHEREAS, Eddie Lee McCann, Sr., worked for 30 years with the Chicago Housing Authority where he was a Chief Operating Engineer; and

 

WHEREAS, Eddie Lee McCann, Sr., enjoyed a second career in law enforcement and was Assistant Chief of the Markham Courthouse under Sheriff James O'Grady; and

 

WHEREAS, For 78 years Eddie Lee McCann, Sr. was a faithful member of St. Paul Church of God in Christ where he was a Deacon and Chairman of the Board of Trustees; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Eddie Lee McCann, Sr., serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Eddie Lee McCann, Sr., to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, Eddie Lee McCann, Sr., was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Eddie Lee McCann, Sr., imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighteenth day of November, 2015 do hereby commemorate Eddie Lee McCann, Sr., for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eddie Lee McCann, Sr.
