RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Gilbert Gordon has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of sixty-four; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, A resident of Highland Park, Gilbert Gordon was a widely admired member of the legal community and the loving husband of Bobbie, nee Rosenthaler; and
 
WHEREAS, Gilbert Gordon was the much-adored father of Richard and Jamie and the grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, Gilbert Gordon was the dear brother of the Honorable Robert and Barry; and
 
WHEREAS, Raised in Skokie, Gilbert Gordon graduated from Bradley University and Loyola University Chicago School of Law; and
 
WHEREAS, Gilbert Gordon served from 1986 to 2006 as the head of litigation for the firm of Marks, Marks and Kaplan and went on to co-found Gordon Rappold 85 Miller; and
 
WHEREAS, During his highly distinguished career, Gilbert Gordon argued hundreds of jury and bench trials and earned a reputation as a preeminent trial lawyer; and
 
WHEREAS, Gilbert Gordon argued the case that led to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that opened the way for consumers to receive damages from airlines that retroactively change frequent flyer programs; and
 
WHEREAS, Gilbert Gordon was also involved in the legal representation of professional athletes; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Gilbert Gordon serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Gilbert Gordon to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
 
WHEREAS, Gilbert Gordon will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Gilbert Gordon imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of September, 2013, do hereby commemorate Gilbert Gordon for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gilbert Gordon.
