RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Trinity Academy of Irish Dance is celebrating its 30th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this anniversary by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Starting from humble beginnings, the Trinity Academy of Irish Dance has become a world-famous institution that has preserved the magic of the traditional repertory, while continuing to innovate within the dance form; and
WHEREAS, Trinity Irish dancers have thrilled appreciative audiences all over the world and added to the Chicago well-deserved reputation for excellence in the arts; and
WHEREAS, The Trinity Academy of Irish Dance operates 14 schools throughout Illinois and Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, Trinity Irish Dancers have performed in Touchstone, Disney, Dreamworks and Universal films, and worked with directors Ron Howard on Backdraft and Sam Mendes on Road to Perdition; and
WHEREAS, Appearing on several acclaimed PBS programs, Trinity Dancers have also performed on The Martha Stewart Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Live with Regis, Good Morning America and CBS This Morning; and
WHEREAS, Trinity Irish Dancers have won eleven team gold medals and 33 World Championship titles for the United States; and
WHEREAS, Each year the Trinity Academy of Irish Dance gives back to the community through dozens of free performances at senior centers, children's hospitals and other public venues; and
WHEREAS, On August 6 and 7, 2013, at Elmhurst's Huizenga Auditorium, the Trinity Academy of Irish Dance will present a special performance, Damhsa, featuring the Trinity Irish Dancers, Men of Trinity, Trinity's Touring Group and the premiere of several recent works; now whereas
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of July 2013, do hereby commend the Trinity Academy of Irish Dance for three decades of outstanding achievements; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Trinity Academy of Irish Dance.
