RESOLUTION

 

 

 

 

WHEREAS, John F. Buckley has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, John F. Buckley was the loving and devoted husband of the late Elaine, nee Cummings; and

WHEREAS, John F. Buckley was the much-adored father of John, Liz and Donna, the grandfather of five and the great-grandfather of one to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, John F. Buckley was raised near 50th Street and Union Avenue on the South Side; and

WHEREAS, John F. Buckley was a Cattle Buyer for 30 years with the Chicago Union Stockyards before entering the construction trades where he worked for the W.R. Weis Company with Local 4; and

WHEREAS, An active and much-beloved member of his community, John F. Buckley was a Past President of the Byrnes Wagner Little League and an alumnus of the Sherman Park Braves; and

WHEREAS, John F. Buckley loved cooking for the West Lawn Little League baseball teams as well as participating in backyard barbeques and impromptu parties with his family; and

WHEREAS, A man of great strength and loyalty to others, John F. Buckley was a former Board Member of the St. Rita Father's Club; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of John F. Buckley serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared John F. Buckley to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, John F. Buckley imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-sixth day of July, 2017, do hereby commemorate John F. Buckley for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John F. Buckley.
