RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Robert E. "Bob" Walsh Jr. has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 78; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Robert E. "Bob" Walsh Jr. was a Korean War veteran and a widely admired member of the law enforcement community; and

 

WHEREAS, Raised in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood, Robert E. "Bob" Walsh Jr. graduated from Mt. Carmel High School and the University of Colorado; and

 

WHEREAS, Robert E. "Bob" Walsh Jr. taught history at Chicago Bowen High School before joining the Chicago Police Department; and

 

WHEREAS, Robert E. "Bob" Walsh Jr. worked at various police districts and was awarded numerous merit citations for bravery; and

 

WHEREAS, Robert E. "Bob" Walsh Jr. rose to the rank of Sergeant before retiring at the age of 50; and

 

WHEREAS, Throughout his long and illustrious career, Robert E. "Bob" Walsh Jr. upheld the finest and most noble ideals of the Chicago Police Department; and

 

WHEREAS, An avid reader of daily newspapers, Robert E. "Bob" Walsh Jr. enjoyed books on military history, foreign policy, railroads and biographies; and

 

WHEREAS, A man of many interests, Robert E. "Bob" Walsh Jr. also loved to travel and listen to music; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Robert E. "Bob" Walsh Jr. serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Robert E. "Bob" Walsh Jr. to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, Robert E. "Bob" Walsh Jr. was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

 

WHEREAS, To his brother, Jay, his sisters, Karen and Kate, and his many cousins, Robert E. "Bob" Walsh Jr. imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-third day of May, 2018, do hereby commemorate Robert E. "Bob" Walsh Jr. for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert E- "Bob" Walsh Jr.
