RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Michael J. Murray has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 79; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Orland Park, the Honorable Michael J. Murray was a widely respected member of the judicial community and the loving husband for 55 years of Madeline, nee Rozell; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Michael J. Murray was the much-adored father of Dave, Carol, Tim and Matt, and the grandfather of eight to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Michael J. Murray was the dear brother of Robert, John, William, the late Honorable James and the late Thomas; and
WHEREAS, Raised on Longwood Drive near Ridge Park in the Beverly community, the Honorable Michael J. Murray graduated from Leo High School, Villanova University and DePaul University College of Law; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Michael J. Murray was a former Chief Attorney for the Chicago Board of Education and a Partner in the law firm of Murray & Girard, LLC; and
WHEREAS, Widely admired for his independence and fair-mindedness, the Honorable Michael J. Murray served as an Associate Judge in the 5th District of the Circuit Court of Cook County from 1987 to 2007; and
WHEREAS, A man of true patriotism and dedication to his country, the Honorable Michael J. Murray served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1959; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Michael J. Murray was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society at Christ the King Church; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Michael J. Murray serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Michael J. Murray to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Michael J. Murray will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Michael J. Murray imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of September, 2014, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Michael J. Murray for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of tho^Honorable Michael J. Murray.
