RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Richard G. Scott has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 86; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Salt Lake City, Utah, Richard G. Scott was a widely respected Mormon leader and the loving husband of the late Jeanene, nee Watkins; and
WHEREAS, Richard G. Scott is survived by five of his seven children to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Richard G. Scott was born in Idaho and raised in Washington, D.C., where his father served as an Assistant Secretary of Agriculture in the Eisenhower Administration; and
WHEREAS, Richard G. Scott earned a degree in mechanical engineering from George Washington University and began working as a nuclear engineer on naval reactors under Admiral Hyman Rickover; and
WHEREAS, Richard G. Scott was a consultant until 1977 when he was called by the Church of Latter-day Saints to serve in a number of increasingly important positions; and
WHEREAS, In 1988 Richard G. Scott was chosen as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve, the church's top governing body; and
WHEREAS, During his esteemed tenure, Richard G. Scott was known as a gentle-mannered leader of the Church of Latter-day Saints who promoted self-improvement and compassion; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Richard G. Scott serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Richard G. Scott was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Richard G. Scott imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
