RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Paul Adams, a World War II Tuskegee Airman, has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 92; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Paul Adams was the loving and devoted husband of Alda for 67 years; and

WHEREAS, Paul Adams was the much-adored father of Deloris, Gloria and Michael to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Having cherished dreams of becoming a pilot since he was a boy, Paul Adams began training with the Tuskegee Airmen in 1942 as a cadet; and

WHEREAS, Receiving his commission as a Second Lieutenant in 1943, Paul Adams joined the 4th Squadron, 332nd fighter group, a highly decorated unit that would participate in more than 1,500 missions in Europe and North Africa; and

WHEREAS, Serving in nine major campaigns, Paul Adams received the Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf clusters; and

WHEREAS, Continuing his distinguished military service for many years after World War II, Paul Adams retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1963; and

WHEREAS, A teacher of industrial arts in the Lincoln, Nebraska school system from 1964 to 1982, Paul Adams inspired many young people to strive for excellence in their professional careers; and

WHEREAS, Active in civil rights causes, Paul Adams served as President of the Lincoln Chapter of the NAACP; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Paul Adams to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Paul Adams imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of July, 2013, do hereby commemorate Paul Adams for his grace-filled life and do here...
