RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert Hanrahan has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of seventy-six; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert Hanrahan was the loving and devoted husband of Barbara; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert Hanrahan was the much-adored father of three sons to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities which he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A former U.S. Congressman, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Education, a Cook County Superintendent and a Lake County Board Member, the Honorable Robert Hanrahan devoted much of his life to public service; and
WHEREAS, The first in his family to graduate from college, the Honorable Robert Hanrahan earned an M.A. from Bowling Green State University; and
WHEREAS, Before serving in government, the Honorable Robert Hanrahan served as a teacher and high school Assistant Superintendent; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert Hanrahan was committed to his role as a public servant on both the local and national levels; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Robert Hanrahan serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Robert Hanrahan to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert Hanrahan will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and colleagues; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Robert Hanrahan imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this ninth day of February, 2011, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Robert Hanrahan for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
