RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Sergeant Zainah Caye Creamer lost her life while bravely serving her country in the global war against terrorism; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A twenty-eight-year-old native of Texarkana, Arkansas, Sergeant Zainah Caye Creamer was fatally injured when Afghani insurgents attacked her unit on January 12, 2011, with an improvised explosive device; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Zainah Caye Creamer was the first female dog handler to be killed in action in any U.S. war; and
WHEREAS, A soldier for six years, Sergeant Zainah Caye Creamer was serving her third war deployment; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Zainah Caye Creamer took her role as a dog handler seriously, cultivating a loving relationship with her dog, Jofa; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Zainah Caye Creamer was described by her fellow soldiers as a positive, charismatic influence with an unforgettable smile; and
WHEREAS, The courage, sacrifice and patriotism of Sergeant Zainah Caye Creamer serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Zainah Caye Creamer will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and colleagues; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Sergeant Zainah Caye Creamer imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this ninth day of February, 2011, do hereby
 
commemorate Sergeant Zainah Caye Creamer for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sergeant Zainah Caye Creamer.
