Title: Tribute to late Howard Gordon Kaplan

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Howard Gordon Kaplan has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of seventy; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Howard Gordon Kaplan was a widely admired member of the legal community and the loving husband of Marlene, nee Kostow; and
WHEREAS, Howard Gordon Kaplan was the much adored father of Rhonda, Bennett, Audra and Patrick and the grandfather of twelve to whom, he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Born on June 1, 1941, Howard Gordon Kaplan graduated from the University of Illinois in 1962 and earned his law degree from John Marshall Law School; and
WHEREAS, Howard Gordon Kaplan was a Founder of the Kaplan Group, a Chicago law firm, and was a certified public accountant; and
WHEREAS, Renowned for his civic involvement, Howard Gordon Kaplan was a generous benefactor of Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America; and
WHEREAS, Howard Gordon Kaplan was a longtime member of the 100 Club of Chicago where he served as Vice President; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Howard Gordon Kaplan serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Howard Gordon Kaplan was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Howard Gordon Kaplan imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixth day of July, 2011, do hereby commemorate Howard Gordon Kaplan for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Howard Gordon Kaplan.
