RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Dr. Robert Uretz has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 94; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A longtime resident of the Hyde Park community, Dr. Robert Uretz was the loving husband of the late Violet; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Robert Uretz was the much-adored father of Jane and the late Alan, the grandfather of three and the great-grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Raised in Chicago, Dr. Robert Uretz served his country in the United States Army during World War II and earned an undergraduate degree in physics and a doctorate in biophysics from the University of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Robert Uretz was the Dean of the Biological Sciences Division of the University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine; and

WHEREAS, Before assuming a top administrative role, Dr. Robert Uretz was a Professor of Biophysics at what is now University of Chicago Medicine; and

WHEREAS, Following a long and illustrious career, Dr. Robert Uretz retired in 1994; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Robert Uretz serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Dr. Robert Uretz to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Robert Uretz was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Dr. Robert Uretz imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
