WHEREAS, David Goldberg has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 85; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, David Goldberg was a widely admired member of the financial community and the loving husband of Linda; and

WHEREAS, David Goldberg was the much-adored father of Andrew, Catherine, Julie and Elizabeth and the much adored grandfather of 14 to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Raised in the Rogers Park neighborhood, David Goldberg became a member of the Chicago Board of Trade in 1956; and

WHEREAS, During his career, David Goldberg helped to transform the Chicago Board of Trade from a grain exchange into a worldwide marketplace for agriculture and financial instruments; and

WHEREAS, Along with his brother, Robert, David Goldberg founded Goldberg Brothers in 1969; and

WHEREAS, After the brothers sold their trading firm in 1988, David Goldberg founded Burling Bank where he served as Chairman for 27 years; and

WHEREAS, David Goldberg was among a group of leaders who created what became the Chicago Board Options Exchange; and

WHEREAS, David Goldberg was an active civic leader who served on the board of Loyola Academy, Regina Dominican High School, Catholic Charities and St. Francis Hospital; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of David Goldberg serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared David Goldberg to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, David Goldberg was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, David Goldberg imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now...
