RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Kenneth K. Hamsher has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 91; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Fox Lake, the Honorable Kenneth K. Hamsher was the loving husband for sixty-three years of the late Thelma, nee Lay; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Kenneth K. Hamsher was the much-adored father of Deborah, Sharon and Kirk, the grandfather of nine and the great-grandfather of ten to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A native of Flint, Michigan, the Honorable Kenneth K. Hamsher grew up working on a farm during the Great Depression and served his country during World War II as member of the United States Navy; and
WHEREAS, Following the war, the Honorable Kenneth K. Hamsher moved to Johnsburg, Illinois where he was a volunteer member of the rescue squad and co-owned Justen-Hamsher Funeral Home in nearby McHenry; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Kenneth K. Hamsher eventually settled in Fox Lake where he operated K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Kenneth K. Hamsher served as the Mayor of Fox Lake from 1993 to 1997 and was a two-term trustee; and
WHEREAS, In his spare time the Honorable Kenneth K. Hamsher enjoyed collecting and refurbishing antique cars, including a 1927 Meteor Hearse that he drove in local parades; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Kenneth K. Hamsher serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Kenneth K. Hamsher to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Kenneth K. Hamsher will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
