MEMORIAL RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF PASTOR GICELE WRAY-LINDLEY

WHEREAS, Pastor Gicele Wray-Lindley, the pastor of Transformation Church, passed away on October 1, 2022; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of Pastor Gicele Wray-Lindley's passing by the Honorable Derrick Curtis, Alderman ofthe 18th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Gicele was born May 28, 1976, in Colon, Panama, to Pastors Esteban and Isabel Wray; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Gicele dedicated herself to the music ministry, at an early age, she began singing solos at church as well as leading praise and worship on Sunday mornings and by the age of 13, Gicele became the choir director and youth leader; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Gicele valued education and graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Early Childhood Education, she completed a Master's Degree in Human Services Administration and most recently completed a Master's in Non-Profit Management and Organizational Leadership; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Gicele used her education to help her community, she was also the founder and CEO of the Shining Star Youth and Community Services/Shining Star Early Learning Centers, a multi-center child care operation that provides quality early learning to over 300 children along with employment to over 100 people; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Giciele is survived by her husband, Pastor Omar Lindley - with whom she worked together as a ministry team - as well as the couple's two daughters Serenity Blessing and Heavenly Blessing; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the Members ofthe City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twenty-sixth day of October 2022, do hereby extend our condolences to the family and friends of Pastor Gicele Wray-Lindley; and
