RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Y.A. Tittle has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 90; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Atherton, California, Y.A. Tittle was an iconic Hall of Fame quarterback and the devoted husband of the late Minnette; and
WHEREAS, Y.A. Tittle was the much-adored father of Michael, Patrick, John and Diane to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Born Yelberton Abraham Tittle Jr on October 24, 1926 in Marshall, Texas, Y.A. Tittle played college football for Louisiana State University; and
WHEREAS, Y.A. Tittle personified the competitive spirit of professional football and played for 17 seasons; and
WHEREAS, Y.A. Tittle was a member of the Baltimore Colts from 1948 to 1950, the San Francisco 49ers from 1951 to 1960 and the New York Giants from 1961 to 1964; and
WHEREAS, Y.A. Tittle was named the National Football League's Most Valuable Player in 1963; and
WHEREAS, The talent and dedication of Y.A. Tittle serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Y.A. Tittle operated Y.A. Tittle 8s Associates Insurance Services in Palo Alto, California after his retirement from professional football; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Y.A. Tittle to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Y.A. Tittle imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby commemorate Y.A. Tittle for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
