MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Andrew Dalton Berghoff on March 19, 2017; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on September 30, 1999 in San Francisco, California, Andrew is survived by his parents, Paul and Lisa, his brothers Matthew, Eric and Luke, his grandparents Paul and Loretto Berghoff and Mary Dalton, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dick Dalton; and
WHEREAS, As a special needs student at his beloved Notre Dame College Prep, Andrew was a Burke Scholar and student manager of the hockey team and an avid Blackhawks fan. He loved all sports, attending school football games and playing guard at public skate time in Wilmette; and
WHEREAS, Despite our sorrow, we continue to preserve and glorify Andrew's life. His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest, even in very challenging circumstances, endeared Andrew to all who knew him and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Andrew touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity, vivacious spirit, and infectious smile. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered this twenty ninth day of March 2017, do hereby commemorate Andrew Dalton Berghoff for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family and friends; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Andrew Dalton Berghoff.
