RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Zachary Fardon has announced his resignation as United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Zachary Fardon served as United States Attorney since October 23, 2013 following his appointment by President Barack Obama; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Zachary Fardon, the Office of the United States Attorney won convictions in cases involving public corruption, terrorism, gang crimes and narcotics; and
WHEREAS, Zachary Fardon established a specialized unit to address violent crime and increased prosecutions of illegal firearms to its highest level in more than a decade; and
WHEREAS, During his esteemed tenure, Zachary Fardon established a new section targeting securities and commodities fraud; and
WHEREAS, Since 2014 Zachary Fardon served as a member of the U.S. Attorney General's Advisory Committee, an advisory panel on policy, management and operational issues impacting U.S. Attorneys' offices across the nation; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, vision and dedication of Zachary Fardon serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-ninth day of March, 2017, do hereby express our gratitude to Zachary Fardon for his exemplary service as United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois and do hereby express our best wishes for his continued success in all of his future endeavors; and
