RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, James P. Morrissy has gone to his eternal reward at the age of 62; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, James P. Morrissy was a widely admired member of the law enforcement community and the loving husband of Janice, nee Loughery; and
 
WHEREAS, James P. Morrissy was the much-adored father of Kyle, Marc and Jake to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, James P. Morrissy was the devoted son of the late John E. and Eunice, nee Risku, and the dear brother of Michael, Colleen, Sean and the late Donald; and
 
WHEREAS, James P. Morrissy was a veteran member of the Oak Forest Police Department who lost his life in the line of duty; and
 
WHEREAS, James P. Morrissy ably served as a Field Training Officer and will be remembered as a respected colleague and mentor to many new recruits; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of James P. Morrissy serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared James P. Morrissy to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, James P. Morrissy will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, James P. Morrissy imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this second day of April, 2014, do hereby commemorate James P. Morrissy for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James P. Morrissy.
