RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Thomas William Havey has been called to eternal.life by the wisdom of God at the age of 98; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Tom is survived by his seven children, Kathleen (John) Fuchs, Jim (Charlotte), Mike (Eileen), Tom (Annabelle), Ed (Trish), Dr. Robert (Rita), Joseph (Gloria), 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, arid his dear companion, Michelle Gill; arid
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Chicago, Tom lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for the past 16 years of his life; arid
WHEREAS, In 1946, Tom married his wife, Catherine Kennedy and remained married for 58 years until her death in 2004; and
WHEREAS, He graduated from Loyola University in Chicago, and in 1948 he established the CPA firm, Thomas W. Havey ■&.Co. which evolved into one of the largest accounting firms in the Chicago area; and
WHEREAS, Tom gave of himself and helped others as.a volunteerand supporter for various charities and organizations such as Catholic Charities of Chicago, Society of Jesus, Loyola University, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and served as the 86th President ofthe IrishFellowship Club of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Thomas William Havey imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members ofthe Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of March, 2021, do hereby commemorate Thomas William Havey for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
