RESOLUTION EXTENDING CONGRATULATIONS TO MEGAN LOZANO
WHEREAS, Megan Lozano recently completed the Chicago Botanic Garden's Windy City Harvest Apprenticeship; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of this special occasion by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, The Windy City Harvest Apprenticeship is a nine-month classroom and hands-on certificate course in sustainable urban agriculture, accredited by the Illinois Community College Board for 31 education credits, offered by a partnership between the Chicago Botanic Garden and City Colleges of Chicago's Daley College; and
WHEREAS, During the Apprenticeship, Megan was responsible for plant propagation for all Windy City Harvest urban farm sites, as well as running the farm operations at the Arturo Velasquez Institute; and
WHEREAS, Through Megan's dedicated study and practice of agricultural production skills, she has not only expanded her knowledge in environmental science and sustainable agriculture, but additionally, contributed directly to the growth of a healthy community and food system throughout the Chicago area; and
WHEREAS, Megan Lozano has completed all of the requirements for completion of the Apprenticeship, and now joins a growing farming community whose mission is the practical application of horticultural knowledge through farming; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor, and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this thirteenth day of April, 2016, do hereby extend our heartiest congratulations to Megan Lozano on completing the Windy City Harvest Apprenticeship and wish her every success in all of her future endeavors; and
Be It Further Resolved, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Megan Lozano.
