RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Noble Network of Charter Schools in Chicago has been recognized by the Broad Foundation as the best-performing large public charter school system in America; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this national honor by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Noble Network of Charter Schools was awarded the Broad Prize for Public Charter Schools at the National Charter Schools Conference in New Orleans; and
WHEREAS, Founded by entrepreneur Eli Broad and his wife, Edythe, the Broad Foundation is a philanthropic organization that seeks to create opportunities for urban school children; and
WHEREAS, The Broad Prize for Public Charter Schools is given annually to honor charter systems serving low-income students of color; and
WHEREAS, The Noble Network of Charter Schools is Chicago's largest charter school system with more than 10,000 students enrolled at 17 campuses; and
WHEREAS, The majority of students who are taught by the Noble Network are minority students who come from underprivileged communities; and
WHEREAS, The Noble Network of Charter Schools was cited for exceptional achievement because it operates almost exclusively secondary schools, which are often the toughest grade levels to advance through academically; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, the Noble Network will graduate 1,500 students from 10 campuses, many of whom will be the first in their families to attend college; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-ninth day of July, 2015, do hereby congratulate the Noble Network of Charter Schools on receiving this prestigious honor; and
