RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Gary LaPaille has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 68;and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Gary is survived by his mother, Dolores LaPaille, his wife, Christine (Freveletti), three children, Joseph, Samuel, and Grace, and his daughters-in-law Allison and Irina; and

WHEREAS, He launched a career in politics and government in Chicago, Springfield and Washington while in high school, working weekends in the 13th Ward . Democratic organization office on the City's Southwest Side, where he was raised; and

WHEREAS, In 1972, Gary graduated from St. Laurence High School, Chicago and graduated from Loyola University, Chicago with a degree in business; and

WHEREAS, He married Christine in 1988 while both served as Chiefs of Staff respectively to then-House Speaker Michael Madigan, a Democrat who ran the 13th Ward organization, and.then-Minority Leader Lee Daniels, a Republican; and

WHEREAS, Gary was Chairman ofthe Illinois Democratic Party from 1990 - 1998; and

WHEREAS, In 1990, Crain's Chicago Business named him as one of their 40 Under 40 individuals who were prominent in business and/or government; and

WHEREAS, He was elected as a Democratic Member ofthe Illinois State Senate from January 1993 through January 1995, and became the minority spokesman on the Local Government & Elections Committee, and his other committee assignments included The Committee on Agriculture & Conservation and the Committee on Financial Institutions; and

WHEREAS, After leaving the State Senate, Gary started a career as a lobbyist, founding his firm, Capitol Management Group, in 1995; and

WHEREAS, Gary and his family moved to Washington in 1999 when his firm was acquired by MWH Global ("MWH"), where he was Senior Vice President for Government Affairs until 2016; and

WHEREAS, After leaving MWH, Gary became a Senior Adviser at Dentons law firm; and
