RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Welton I. Taylor has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of ninety-two; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Welton I. Taylor was the loving husband for nearly sixty years of the late Jayne, nee Kemp; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Welton I. Taylor was the much-adored father of Karyn and Shelley to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, A world-renowned scientist and educator Dr. Welton I. Taylor was a leading microbiologist and an expert on food borne illnesses; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Welton I. Taylor served for decades at Chicago area hospitals where he was a consultant on improving patient care and training laboratory technicians; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Welton I. Taylor was a consulting microbiologist at the Institut Pasteur in Lille, France and the Central Public Health Laboratory in London, England; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Welton I. Taylor was also a World War II liaison pilot and a civil rights advocate; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Welton I. Taylor serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Dr. Welton I. Taylor imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twelfth day of December, 2012, do hereby commemorate Dr. Welton I. Taylor for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Welton I. Taylor.
