RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Patricia Liston has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Patricia Liston was a renowned educator with the Chicago Public Schools and the loving wife for fifty-five years of the late James Liston; and
WHEREAS, Patricia Liston was the much-adored mother of Dennis, Michael, Jim, Patty and Brian to whom she imparted many of the fine and noble qualities which she possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Patricia Liston was a beloved grandmother and role model; and
WHEREAS, Known for her loyalty, courage, and perseverance, Patricia Liston overcame much adversity in order to build a rich and successful life; and
WHEREAS, Patricia Liston held two masters degrees in education, both of which served her well during her distinctive, decades-long career with the Chicago Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her many years in the classroom, Patricia Liston served as an Assistant Principal and a Coordinator for Special Education Services; and
WHEREAS, Patricia Liston was the recipient of two CPS Golden Apple Awards; and
WHEREAS, Patricia Liston will be remembered by her family, friends, and colleagues as a woman of extraordinary strength and character; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Patricia Liston imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this ninth day of February, 2011, do hereby commemorate Patricia Liston for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Patricia Liston.
