RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, His Excellency, the Honorable Adolfo Suarez has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 81; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, His Excellency, the Honorable Adolfo Suarez was a former Prime Minister of Spain and the loving husband of Amparo Illana; and
WHEREAS, His Excellency, the Honorable Adolfo Suarez was the much-adored father of five children to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A lawyer and the 1st Duke of Suarez, His Excellency, the Honorable Adolfo Suarez was born in Cebreros and became a celebrated and popular figure who pursued a career in politics; and
WHEREAS, His Excellency, the Honorable Adolfo Suarez was appointed as the Prime Minister of Spain by King Juan Carlos in 1976; and
WHEREAS, A key figure in his country's transition to democracy, His Excellency, the Honorable Adolfo Suarez was the first elected leader of Spain after decades of dictatorship by General Francisco Franco; and
WHEREAS, During his esteemed tenure, His Excellency, the Honorable Adolfo Suarez legalized political parties and trade unions and called for amnesty of political offenses outlawed under General Franco's authoritarian regime; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of His Excellency, the Honorable Adolfo Suarez serve as' an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His Excellency, the Honorable Adolfo Suarez will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, His Excellency, the Honorable Adolfo Suarez imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
