RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Michael Kotzin, has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 74; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Highland Park, Michael Kotzin was a widely admired advocate for the Jewish community and the loving husband of Judith; and

WHEREAS, Michael Kotzin was the much-adored father of Daniel, Joshua and Abigail and the grandfather of eight to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Michael Kotzin was the dear brother of Morissa; and

WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Michael Kotzin was the son of a prominent Labor Zionist leader; and

WHEREAS, Michael Kotzin graduated from the University of Chicago and earned a doctorate from the University of Minnesota; and

WHEREAS, Michael Kotzin moved to Israel for 11 years where he taught English literature at Tel Aviv University and cultivated lifelong relationships with prominent figures in the Israel; and

WHEREAS, After returning to Chicago, Michael Kotzin worked with the Anti-Defamation League and served for the past 25 years with the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Michael Kotzin will be remembered by his colleagues as a "dedicated centrist" and a good listener who believed there was an appropriate approach to solving problems; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Michael Kotzin serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life, and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Michael Kotzin to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, Michael Kotzin was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Michael Kotzin imparts a legacy of faithfulne...
