RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Kenneth F. Little has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 84; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth F. Little was a retired Senior Fire Alarm Operator for the Chicago Fire Department and the loving husband of the late Alice, nee Bychowski; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth F. Little was the much-adored father of Kenneth, Robert, Stephen (C.F.D.), Philip, Richard, Raymond, Mary Ellen, Anna, Rita and the late Thomas and the grandfather of four to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Raised in Old Town, Kenneth F. Little spent his early years listening to radio calls at a fire station at North and Hudson Avenues; and

WHEREAS, As Kenneth F. Little grew older, he took street cars, the elevated train and buses to visit every fire house location in the City of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth F. Little joined the Chicago Fire Alarm Office in 1957 where he enjoyed a 36-year career with the Chicago Fire Department and became known as its "unofficial historian"; and

WHEREAS, Known for his encyclopedic memory, Kenneth F. Little shared his vast knowledge of Chicago history as a teacher at Wright Junior College; and

WHEREAS, Following a fire that raged through the City Council Chambers in 1957, Kenneth F. Little received a commendation for staying at his post as he and other dispatchers worked in the old Fire Alarm Office located upstairs at City Hall; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth F. Little co-authored six books on the Chicago Fire Department and helped to found the Fire Museum of Greater Chicago in Lemont which had a library named in his honor; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Kenneth F. Little serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Kenneth F. Little to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled...
