RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable W. Robert Blair, II, has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-three; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable W. Robert Blair, II, was the loving husband for seventeen years of Rozanne; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable W. Robert Blair, II, was the much-adored father of three and the stepfather of five to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, A statesman and a gentleman, the Honorable W. Robert Blair, II, served from 1971 to 1975 as the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives; and
 
WHEREAS, The leadership and vision of Honorable W. Robert Blair, II, are credited with modernizing the legislature and establishing the Regional Transportation Authority; and
 
WHEREAS, A native of Clarksburg, West Virginia, the Honorable W. Robert Blair, II, moved to Illinois in 1955 and settled in Park Forest; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable W. Robert Blair, II, served in the Air Force and was the Assistant to the President of Swift & Company; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable W. Robert Blair, II, serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable W. Robert Blair, II, will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable W. Robert Blair, II, imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago .City Council, assembled this fifth day of February, 2014, do hereby commemorate the Honorable W. Robert Blair, II, for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family ofthe Honorable W. Robert Blair, II.
