WHEREAS, It was with great sadness that members of this august body learned of the death of Paul Webster at age 63; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Derrick Curtis, Alderman of the 18th Ward; and

WHEREAS, On the evening of June 9, 2016 Paul Webster had been sitting in his car when a dark-colored vehicle pulled up beside him and shots were fired hitting him in the chest; and .

WHEREAS, Chicago Fire Department Paramedics arrived on the scene and rushed him to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he expired due to his injuries; and

WHEREAS, Paul Webster was a well-respected and widely admired coach for the Chicago Blitz Youth Football team and Marquette Wizards small fry basketball team. He encouraged youth in his neighborhood to strive to do better and work hard. He was known to mentor youths and a friend to all; and

WHEREAS, Paul Webster had always been full of life and had great sense of humor. He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Evan Webster; and

WHEREAS, An active and vital member of his community, Paul touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity and spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore

BE IT BE RESOLVED, That we, The Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here on this twenty second day of June 2016, do hereby send our condolences to the family and friends of Paul Webster; and
