RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Michael Jasso has announced the completion of his second tenure serving in municipal government with the City of Chicago, effective November 30, 2012; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Michael Jasso has ably served as the Managing Deputy Commissioner of the Bureau of Economic Development in the Department of Housing and Economic Development for the City of Chicago since 2009, where he oversaw the department's efforts to create jobs and foster citywide revitalization; and
WHEREAS, Michael Jasso returned to the City of Chicago in 2008 to head up development of the Central District after previously working in a similar role a decade earlier; and
WHEREAS, Michael Jasso returned to the City of Chicago after serving in our nation's Capitol as a Special Assistant for the District of Columbia where he administered its Tax Increment Financing Program; and
WHEREAS, In that esteemed role, Michael Jasso oversaw the financing of major developments, including the Gallery Place project which signaled a resurgence of retail space in the city center and the new Washington Nationals Baseball Stadium; and
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Michael Jasso was raised on the Southwest Side and is a former Peace Corps volunteer who served in Yemen; and
WHEREAS, Michael Jasso graduated from Princeton University and earned a graduate degree in business administration from the University of Texas; and
WHEREAS, Michael Jasso will leave City government to accept a new position with the Chicago Housing Authority; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Michael Jasso serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of November, 2012, do hereby express our sincere gratitude to Michael Jasso for his dedicated service and do herby express our warmest and best wishes for his futur...
