WHEREAS, Raymond Joseph Pfeifer has gone to his eternal reward at the age of 59; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Hicksville, New York, Raymond Joseph Pfeifer was the loving and devoted husband of Caryn; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Joseph Pfeifer was the much-adored father of Terence and Taylor to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Joseph Pfeifer served with honor and distinction for more than 27 years as a member of the New York City Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Joseph Pfeifer was a former Captain with the East Meadow Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Joseph Pfeifer spent months digging through the tragic aftermath of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks and later became a voice for those first responders who fell ill; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Joseph Pfeifer lobbied the United States Congress for renewal of the Zadroga Health and Compensation Act which provides medical monitoring and financial aid to first responders, volunteer responders and survivors of the attack; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Joseph Pfeifer described his role as a public servant as "exciting from day one up to the last day I worked, every single minute" and that he was "proud every day to put that uniform on"; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Raymond Joseph Pfeifer serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Raymond Joseph Pfeifer to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Raymond Joseph Pfeifer imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
