RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The third shift of Chicago Fire Department Engine 108 is based out of the fire house at 4625 N Milwaukee. They are ready throughout the late hours of the night to keep us safe; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago Fire Department has been incredibly successful. Thanks to their work, we have seen the number of fire deaths in Chicago drop from one to two hundred a year in the sixties to about a dozen a year today. This is in part because of the Department's unparalleled courage. But, it has also been because of its smart approach to fire fighting. CFD has continually worked to modernize training and equipment, to work with the Department of Buildings on improving fire codes and code compliance, and to educate the public on fire prevention and fire

safety; and

WHEREAS, The people of Engine 108, Third Shift for exemplifying the best values of the Chicago Fire Department which continue to keep us safe; now therefore

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered here this 8th day of November, 2017, do hereby express gratitude for the service, courage and dedication of the Chicago Fire Department Engine 108, 3rd Shift; and

Alderman Margaret Laurino 39th Ward
