RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Niagara Foundation will celebrate the occasion of its Tenth Anniversary with a special gala to be held in Chicago on December 4, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Niagara Foundation is a nonprofit organization operating from its headquarters in Chicago with 22 branches which span nine Midwestern states; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Niagara Foundation is to promote dialogue and encourage understanding among different ethnic, cultural, and religious traditions by emphasizing common values and exploring new opportunities for these traditions to collaborate; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the year, the Niagara Foundation organizes events aimed at fostering and advancing understanding between different communities, professional sectors, and backgrounds; and
WHEREAS, These events are planned and implemented through the auspices of The Center for Public and Global Affairs, the Center for Interfaith Engagement, and the Center for Academic Affairs; and
WHEREAS, The Niagara Foundation will celebrate its growth over the past ten years at a dinner in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Chicago, 720 South Michigan Avenue; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this nineteenth day of November, 2014, do hereby congratulate The Niagara Foundation on the occasion of its Tenth Anniversary and do hereby express every good wish to this organization's leadership for continued growth and service to the Midwest for many years to come; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Serif Soy dan, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Niagara Foundation.
